Back in 1825, George Stephenson’s Locomotion No.1 set off on its first journey on the Stockton and Darlington railway as the first ever steam locomotive to carry passengers. This monumental step in the industrial revolution is what put Stockton and Darlington on the map! With this year being the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, we’ve brought out a range of keepsakes to commemorate this event.

S&DR200 Keyring

The S&DR200 keyrings are a great little token gift to add to your keys to show you’re proud of where you came from and the achievements of our area. Whilst we have the classic parmo to be loud and proud about there’s also revolutionary inventions to come from the people of Stockton - like the friction match invented by John Walker. It’s just something small to celebrate a big anniversary!

George Stephenson Notebook

We also have the George Stephenson inspired notebook which features a stunning embossed design. This is a great addition for an office but it’s such a lovely notebook you’ll hardly want to use it!

George Stephenson Pocket Watch

Now what about a time keeping keepsake? Our George Stephenson pocket watch is another eye-catching keepsake that you can carry around with you or hang up in your house as a novelty little decoration. All our George Stephenson gifts come with a little booklet with a bit of history on him, making it a perfect and well-rounded gift.

Vintage Wooden Train Set

Little ones can also join in the fun with this handcrafted wooden train! Let their imagination go crazy as they dream up their own train journeys across the universe! Envelop them in the world of trains with a traditional train whistle so it feels like they’re right there back in 1825 when the Locomotion No.1 first set off!

The councils of Stockton and Darlington have got events going year round for the bicentenary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway so stop in at Lu Lu’s after the experience to get something to remember the special occasion! One of my favourite things about keepsakes is when you find them again years later, you can look back to that day you got it and relive moments with family and friends.
